When we arrived on our last visit, we were seated straight away and the menu arrived almost immediately – no waving, no waiting, no being ignored. That alone is a good sign.

My little sister – who is still quite young – was slowly settling into her chair, and the waiter simply waited for her to sit down properly before saying anything at all. That last one was served in a small fish-shaped dish – something I've never seen anywhere else around Balaton. It's a tiny detail, but it tells you everything about how much thought goes into the experience here. Not just the cooking, but the presentation, the little surprises. The fish soup was exactly as it should be: rich, full-bodied, not watery, not thin. The flavours never let me down.

The Drinks Deserve Their Own Mention

A lot of places focus on the food but completely ignore the drinks. Not here. The strawberry lemonade and lavender lemonade are made from real ingredients – not syrup, not powder, but actual fruit and flowers. When we came to pay on our last visit, I mentioned that I'd been here many times before and had even written about the place. They recognised me straight away – not in the performative way some restaurants suddenly become warmer when they realise someone might write about them, but genuinely, naturally, like running into an old acquaintance. That kind of guest relationship is something very few places around Balaton can offer. Most are staffed by seasonal workers who don't remember anyone. Here, it's different.
